hwloc software package provides Hierarchical view of the machine - utilities, you can install in your Ubuntu 14.04 LTS (Trusty Tahr) by running the commands given below on the terminal,
$ sudo apt-get update $ sudo apt-get install hwloc
hwloc is installed in your system.
Make ensure the hwloc package were installed using the commands given below,
$ sudo dpkg-query -l | grep hwloc *
You will get with hwloc package name, version, architecture and description in a table
